Phillip Ivey

Coach Ivey serves as the Head Boys and Girls Golf Coach at McDonough High School. Coach Ivey is a Walton County, GA native and a 2007 graduate of Monroe Area High School. He was a four year golfer at Monroe and lettered all four years of high school. He graduated in 2011 from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with his Bachelor's degree and is currently working on his master's degree from Clayton State University. Coach Ivey is entering his 10th year in public education. He spent six years at Social Circle, two years at Stockbridge Middle School, and is now entering his second year here at McDonough High School. Coach Ivey currently serves as an ESE Teacher in the ELA department at McDonough.

While at Social Circle, Coach Ivey lead the girls golf team to four straight region titles from 2014-2017 and ultimately a 3rd place finish in the 2014 GHSA AA State Tournament. He also led Social Circle's boys team to three straight state tournament appearances from 2014-2016 as three time region runner ups.

In his first season at McDonough, Coach Ivey lead the Warhawk program back to the State Tournament for the time first time since 1995 as Nathariya Phimsoutham won the 2022 Area Tournament to advance to the AAAA State Tournament where she finished 3rd as a freshmen.
